  • Mix flour, salt, and yeast in a mixing bowl. Add warm water to form a shaggy dough. Knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  • Turn dough onto a floured surface and deflate. Divide into 8-10 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, poke a hole in the center, and stretch into a rin
  • Place shaped bagels on a lined baking sheet and let rest.
  • Fill a large pot with water and add baking soda. Bring to a gentle simmer. Boil bagels for 30 seconds on each side
  • Remove bagels with a slotted spoon and transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Apply an egg wash (optional)
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Rotate baking sheet halfway through
